Case Study
Algae blooms and subsequent odor plagued the treasured ponds of an affluent community inside of Boynton Beach, FL. The local home owner’s association looked to the city who responded with traditional aerators, chemical algaecides and manual removal – all of which failed. Regulatory pressures and complaints from residents of the area forced the city to seek out a lasting, sustainable solution.
The installation of Aequion’s Model 03 EMOH™ unit was a collaborative effort made by the City of Boynton Beach Utilities Department and Florida Atlantic University (FAU). A seven-month study took place between the months of May and December of 2016. This was a resounding success after having addressed the totality of algal and odor concerns in incredibly short time.
